NO on 1 to Host Maine Families at a Play Date for Equality
Media invited to cover event TODAY (Monday, October 12th) on the playground of Portland’s Deering Oaks Park
Portland, Maine (Monday, October 12, 2009)---NO on 1/Protect Maine Equality will host Maine families at a “Play Date for Equality,” TODAY (Monday, October 12th) at 1:00 p.m. on the playground of Portland’s Deering Oaks Park.
“Today, we will celebrate the diversity of families that makes Maine such a great place to live and raise our kids,” said Jesse Connolly, Campaign Manager for NO on 1. “Some families are headed by grandparents or other relatives. Some families have parents from different races or moved to Maine from another country. And yes, some families are headed by two men or by two women. My dad died when I was very young, and I was raised by a single Mom. In Maine we value and honor all of our families.”
The Play Date for Equality will feature free apple cider and cookies for everyone. The event will be open to the media and NO on 1 staff will be available to arrange interviews with families who are comfortable talking to reporters.
